Our Commitment to Your Privacy
OPUS is a private journaling app made by Tipsy Pixel. Your journal entries are yours — and yours alone. We designed OPUS from the ground up to keep your thoughts private and your data under your control.
This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and exactly what we do not do with it.
What We Collect
OPUS collects only the minimum information necessary to provide the app experience.
- Journal entries & content — text, mood selections, and metadata you create inside the app. This is stored locally on your device and, if you enable iCloud sync, in your personal iCloud account.
- Preferences & settings — your theme, notification preferences, and passcode configuration are stored locally on your device.
- Purchase receipts — if you subscribe to OPUS Pro, Apple processes the transaction. We receive only anonymised confirmation of your subscription status; we never see your payment details.
- Crash & diagnostic data — if you opt in to Apple's app analytics, standard iOS crash reports may be shared with us through App Store Connect. These contain no journal content.
What We Do Not Collect
- We do not read, scan, or process the content of your journal entries.
- We do not collect your name, or any personally identifiable information.
- We do not run advertising, analytics SDKs, or tracking pixels inside OPUS.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party.
- We do not build profiles about you or use behavioural targeting of any kind.
iCloud Sync
If you choose to enable iCloud sync, your journal data is stored in your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit framework. This means:
- Your data is protected by Apple's security and encryption standards.
- Tipsy Pixel has no access to your iCloud-stored data.
- You can disable iCloud sync at any time in iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud.
iCloud sync is entirely optional. OPUS works fully offline with no sync at all.
Passcode & Biometric Lock
If you enable the passcode lock feature, your passcode is stored securely in the iOS Keychain on your device. It is never transmitted to Tipsy Pixel or any external server. Biometric authentication (Face ID / Touch ID) is handled entirely by Apple's LocalAuthentication framework.
Notifications
If you enable journaling reminders, OPUS schedules local notifications on your device. These are processed entirely on-device — notification content is never sent to our servers.
Children's Privacy
OPUS is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.
Your Rights
Because we do not collect personal data, there is generally no personal data for us to access, correct, or delete on our end. Your journal data lives on your device (and optionally in your iCloud account). You can delete all data at any time by deleting the app.
If you have questions or requests relating to privacy, we are happy to help.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you via an in-app notice. Continued use of OPUS after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
